‘My work for the past twelve years has led me to a style of painting I find most liberating. I work in acrylics with a palette knife and brush and with the story in my head, the knife tells the tale. Each painting I create has a story to tell - not just the one I imagine, but what the viewer imagines too. It is important to me that the viewer has a chance to tell the story their way. I enjoy this interaction and find it interesting that each piece can evoke a myriad of responses. I find myself continually returning to the same subject matter which would be non gender specific figures, painted in strong, vibrant colours which blend into their surroundings. In part, this is to show how we are interconnected with our surroundings, but also how our surroundings mould us. Conversely, I find using a dark palette quite invigorating as this tends to elicit strong emotion and memory.’
